Ophthalmology and Eye Surgery
Many eye diseases do not necessarily show up symptoms for long periods. Early diagnosis coupled with right treatment can prevent loss of sight.
Regular eye examination is important not only for vision problems that require glasses or contact lenses, but also – for diseases, such as glaucoma, cataracts and macular degeneration. If left untreated, it may lead to blindness and more diseases such as Age-Related Macular Degeneration (AMD), Cataract, Diabetic Retinopathy, Glaucoma, Hyperopia and Myopia.
According to the National eye Institute (NEI) Statistics Report, between 2010 and 2050 the estimated number of people affected by the most common eye diseases (Ophthalmology) will double. Estimates indicate 285 million people to be visually impaired all around the globe. Of these 80% visual impairment problems can be effectively cured. Cataracts affect more than 24.4 million in US alone.
